AMERICA’S EROICA TRIO GIVES CHAMBER RECITAL AT JORGENSEN

Celebrated for their flawless technical virtuosity, irresistible enthusiasm, and sensual elegance, the Grammy-nominated Eroica Trio will take the stage at UConn’s Jorgensen Center for the Performing Arts on Sunday afternoon, April 22 to perform selected chamber works for piano, violin and cello by Italian Baroque musical composers Antonio Vivaldi (Trio Sonata in C minor, RV 83) and Tomaso Albinoni (arr. Eroica Adagio in G minor), 20th century Russian composer Dmitri Shostakovich (Trio in E minor, Op. 67), and French com poser Maurice Ravel (Trio in A minor).
One of the most highly praised and sought-after trios in the world, the energetic ensemble – Erika Nickrenz, piano; Sara Parkins, violin; Sara Sant’Ambrogio, cello – have played to sold-out venues around the world including Carnegie Hall, Lincoln Center, and UK’s Cadogan Hall with the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra, in addition to performing on numerous nationally broadcast television programs including ABC’s The View, CNN’s Showbiz Today, and Fox’s The Crier Report. There will be a Concert Talk prior to the concert at 2:15 pm. Doors will open at 2:00 pm, and the concert will begin at 3:00 pm.

PUNCH BROTHERS KICK OFF BIG TIME SUMMER TOUR AT JORGENSEN

The Grammy-nominated progressive bluegrass band Punch Brothers will kick off their 29-city 2018 Big Time Summer Tour with a concert performance on Tuesday evening, April 24th at UConn’s Jorgensen Center for the Performing Arts. Formed in 2006 and composed of mandolin virtuoso and lead vocalist Chris Thile, guitarist Chris Eldridge, bassist Paul Kowert, banjoist Noam Pikelny and violinist Gabe Witcher, the critically acclaimed acoustic quintet will treat the audience to a night of songs blending bluegrass with a variety of genres reflecting the members’ diverse musical interests, and will debut tracks from their brand-new album to be released in conjunction with their Big Time Tour. Doors will open at 7:00 pm. Concert beings at 7:30 pm.
