UNPLUG AND JOIN STEPPING STONES FOR ANNUAL WORLDWIDE DAY OF PLAY, FOR FREE!
Children’s Museum is Official Nickelodeon Site for Global Event Inspiring Families to Lead Active Lifestyles
Turn off your phones, televisions, and computers, and head to Stepping Stones Museum for Children on Saturday, September 16th for the annual Worldwide Day of Play. As an official registered Nickelodeon site, Stepping Stones hosts a play-filled day of fun IRL (in real life) guaranteed to get families up and moving. Join us for physical activities, live performances, crafts, and active programs that are creative and educational, with free admission for all!
Initiated by Nickelodeon, this global event is a full day dedicated to inspiring kids and families around the world to lead more active and healthy lifestyles. To encourage everyone to get into the action, Stepping Stones will be open for FREE all day, from 10:00 am to 5:00 pm! Enjoy all of the museum exhibits, Mathews Park, and a wide array of interactive games and events for the whole family!
Stepping Stones will shut down all of our media screens, just as Nickelodeon goes completely dark, so that we can focus on healthy, physical activities for kids and their families. Join people around the world as we unplug and just play!
Special programs will be held throughout Mathews Park and in the museum in the Bus Circle, Celebration Courtyard, Community Garden, Great Lawn, Multimedia Gallery and the Travelling & Light Gallery.
Just some of the exciting events we are hosting include: a magic show by Pete and Chris Amusements, a student gymnastics demonstration by the Westport Weston Family YMCA Gymnastic Team, and a performance of strings and piano music by students of the Talent Education Suzuki School, along with a visit from the North Shore Animal League’s Mobile Adoption Unit.
For those looking to get in on the action, there are plenty of options: giant chess by the Chess Club of Fairfield County, and Storytelling with Movement – an interactive and mindful story experience. A demo class with Kempo Academy of Martial Arts, an obstacle course from Melissa and Doug, and a sample class from Super Soccer Stars will be available to really get those heart rates up.
Worldwide Day of Play is an Open Arms program sponsored by Bronze Medal Sponsor: People’s United Bank, and Blue Ribbon Sponsors: The Golf Performance Center, Melissa & Doug, and Outdoor Sports Center.
