Join Taino Smokehouse & Killam & Bassette Farmstead for a Fresh from the Farm “Whole Hog Pickin' Extravaganza” Fundraiser Dinner on Sunday, 8/6 at 3:00. This farm dinner promises to delight the senses in every way as participants enjoy nature’s bounty in the beautiful fields of South Glastonbury, an historic and scenic pastoral landscape on the banks of the Connecticut River. Locally roasted coffee from SoG Coffee Roasters, Hayrides, live music of John Maze, The Farmer's Cow drinks, NoRA Cupcakes for dessert (made with Killam & Bassette's award winning jams), & Wine Tasting all evening provided by South Side Wine & Spirits.

Customers have another reason to feel good about supporting this event - 100% of the proceeds of this Fresh from the Farm Dinner will benefit The Judy Lynch Memorial Scholarship Fund, a scholarship with a difference. While most post-high school scholarships focus on high academic achievement and are given only once, The Judy Lynch Memorial Scholarship, named for Judy Preli Lynch, bases its awards on merit of a different sort and seeks to support recipients throughout their entire post-high school college or training program. The scholarship is based on the character of Judy Lynch, a life-long South Glastonbury resident and mother of Christine Bassette of Killam & Bassette Farmstead, LLC, who was known by all as someone who worked tirelessly to care for the people around her.

“Judy had a loving, caring soul, and gave selflessly to her family and friends, hoping only to make a difference for those in need.” explains Chris Bassette, co-owner of Killam & Bassette Farmstead, LLC, regarding her mother. “Not only was she there for family & friends, but she tirelessly offered her services up to her church, local soup kitchens, and food banks whenever possible. “

“As a mother, she taught us always look out for others,” Bassette explains. “She lent an extra helping hand whenever needed. That’s why, to honor my mother’s extraordinary sense of giving, we created The Judy Lynch Memorial Scholarship Fund. The goal of this scholarship is to assist 2 Glastonbury students who demonstrates the same type of work ethic and spirit of caring for others that my mother did. The purpose of the scholarship is to help Glastonbury high school graduates complete the training they need in order to make a difference in the world, whether it is through a college degree, a trade school, or other training,” Bassette continues. “Just as Judy Lynch invested her time and energy to uplift the people around her, this scholarship seeks to support those students who have shown that they, too, are willing to work hard and put others before themselves in order to make the world a better place. “

“We’re thrilled to be able to support this scholarship with an event that brings good food and great people, together on the farm for a one-of-a-kind epicurean experience,” Bassette concludes. “We invite everyone who enjoys the highest quality local farm products, prepared at the height of freshness, in new and inventive ways by Chef Van Hurd, to come on down to the farm here in South Glastonbury. The Whole Hog Pickin' Extravaganza Dinner is the perfect Sunday summer afternoon/evening in Connecticut!”
