Lilac Girls Event

Lilacs Girls Event

with New York Times Bestselling Author Martha Hall Kelly at the Bellamy-Ferriday House & Garden in Bethlehem

Join us on Saturday, July 15th for a special day celebrating the work of social philanthropist Caroline Ferriday, the inspiration for New York Times bestselling author Martha Hall Kelly’s novel Lilac Girls at Caroline’s Connecticut home. Lilac Girls is based on the true story of Caroline Ferriday and the Ravensbrück Concentration Camp survivors known as lapin (rabbits), whom Caroline championed. This acclaimed debut novel, also available on audiobook, reveals a story of love, redemption and terrible secrets that were hidden for decades.

From 10 am to 12 pm, experience the Hay, Caroline’s beloved Connecticut home, through her eyes as you tour her house and enjoy a landscape walk focusing on the Ferridays’ horticultural design and garden history. Caroline and her mother designed the garden to feature the sequential blooming of specimen magnolias, lilacs, peonies, and roses. Meet Martha Hall Kelly in Caroline’s playhouse and have her sign your book.

At noon, enjoy an author presentation with Martha, as she discusses Lilac Girls, including her research process, and where she took artistic license. Get insight into Martha’s next book about Caroline and her mother Eliza.

Tickets range from $25 to $100; limited availability. Tickets for the Lilac Girls tours and book signing are $35; tickets for the author presentation are $25; day passes are $50; and Patron tickets are $100, which includes day pass, tax-deductible donation, and signed copy of Lilac Girls. Purchase tickets by Friday, July 7th by visiting www.ctlandmarks.org or calling 860.247.8996 x 23. All proceeds benefit the Bellamy-Ferriday House & Garden.
