A 12-year-old Maryland boy is being credited with saving his mother’s life after waking up to find her boyfriend allegedly choking her over the weekend. Xavier Leathers grabbed a kitchen knife and stabbed the man twice, stopping the attack.
The mom says she didn’t know why her attacker stopped choking her until she later overheard police saying that he was stabbed. She was concerned that her son might get in trouble, but police told her that he wouldn’t since he was defending her. The suspect was taken into custody, and police are continuing to investigate.
Xavier and his mother were both okay aside from some minor injuries. The mother was treated at a hospital and later filed for a protective order. She says she believes she might not be alive if her son hadn’t stepped in.
