A couple of college students are making it easier for bicyclists to stay safe on the roads with their new invention. David Hall and Jordan Klein created the Park and Diamond helmet, which is a durable as a traditional bike helmet, but it’s made of material as thin as a baseball cap or beanie.
“We thought, ‘What does every bike and bag have? A place to store a water bottle. So, if the helmet fits in that space, the rider can always be covered,’” Klein explains. “Carrying a helmet becomes a seamless part of life.”
The Virginia Tech students’ helmets look like a normal baseball cap or beanie and can be folded up or stuffed into a bike’s water bottle holder. So people are more likely to carry it and use it, compared to a bulky regular helmet. The Park and Diamond Helmets will be on sale this summer.
