UCONN Women Onto Another Final Four!

posted by Fisch -

We're used to the UConn Women's basketball winning, and winning a lot here in Connecticut...but we need not take for granted how great this team is.  Let's take a look at some numbers...

They beat the defending National Champs, South Carolina, by 29 points last night…in fact, UConn was up 21 at the half!  This was the first time the previous two national champions met in the NCAAs since 1997 when UConn lost to Tennessee. It had happened twice before that.

This is UConn's 11th straight year where they won their way to the Final Four…In fact, it's the 19th trip overall for Geno Auriema – that’s a new record (Pat Summit took Tennessee there 18 times) for both men’s and women's NCAA teams.

Uconn will play Notre Dame on Friday…if they win, they’ll get a chance to play for their record 12th National Championship.

If Uconn does win out, this would be their 7th perfect undefeated season.

The Uconn Women have only lost 53 games since winning their 1st National Championship in 1994-95.
