For some families, taking their little ones to sit on Santa’s lap for a photo is a favorite tradition. But the days of taking home a cheap Polaroid memento of the visit are long over and now some parents are shelling out a small fortune just to capture the magic of the Santa visit. Here’s what it costs to get photos taken with Santa across the U.S.:
The Grove, Los Angeles - Santa’s Workshop is so popular here that visitors might have to wait in a long line, so reservations are recommended to expedite the process. The only issue? There are no more reservations available. So if you want to wait, photo packages start at $40, which includes emailed images. If you want printed photos, it’s going to cost you $60 for a 5x7 and two 3x5s.
Biltmore Fashion Park in Phoenix, Arizona - For $39.95 your kid gets a four-minute session with Santa and you get one 5x7 and one 4x6 print, as well as the downloadable e-book, “I can’t wait to visit Santa.”
The Gardens Mall, Palm Beach Gardens, Florida - To visit the evergreen-filled Enchanted Garden and get photos with the jolly guy in the red suit, the basic “Package C” includes one 5x7, two 4x6, and two 3x5 for $28.99. For $55.99, you get four prints of each and hi-res photos on a flash drive along with a $20 Shutterfly card. They also charge extra for multiple poses and digital downloaded images.
But the priciest place in the country to get Santa photos taken might be New York City. New York Santa Photographer offers sessions in an Upper West Side studio where for $135, you get two high-res images and a print release. There is a closet full of holiday props to use and this Santa allows silliness like beard pulling and kids tying him up with lights. Add retouching on images for $325 and all that along with 50 holiday cards and envelopes will set you back $500.
