Jackson Browne honored the late Gregg Allman with an emotional rendition of the Allman Brother’s Band classic track, “Melissa,” at the Laid Back Festival in Holmdel, New Jersey over the weekend. To remind you, Allman passed away back in May of complications from liver cancer.
Browne and Allman’s friendship dates back to the late sixties, when they met while Gregg and the late Duane Allman were in the band Hourglass. They covered the Browne-penned track “Cast Off All of My Fears,” and later Gregg rearranged Browne’s song “These Days” for his 1973 solo debut, “Laid Back.”
Now that he's wrapped his stateside shows, Browne heads overseas to Japan, and then Jamaica for a run that'll take him into the New Year. He'll return to North American January 24th with a show in Sarasota, Florida. For a rundown of his tourdates, CLICK HERE.
