When Pizza Hut manager Shayda Willison realized her restaurant could still make some pies for the folks in her Oak Lake, Texas community who were stranded by the floodwaters, she made it happen. She called her husband and had him bring kayaks to help deliver the pizzas during the flooding.
Together, they brought 120 pizzas to locals who were stuck and in need of food. “The people in the houses didn’t expect us to come,” Willison says. “It was so nice to see their smiles after so much gloom.”
This kind-hearted manager is getting props from the company for thinking out of the box. The national Pizza Hut Twitter account tweeted a thank you to her team for their efforts.
“We are so proud of our team for seeing a need, stepping up and helping the community in a time of devastation,” Pizza Hut franchisee James Bodenstedt says of Willison’s boat deliveries.
