All photos used have been approved and released for use in this photo gallery and taken by the families who agreed to be a part of this photo gallery to help inform the public about the breed they love so much!! These photos are 100% approved for use by the Pit Bull Advocates, families and supported of Bully Breeds in CT and beyond!!!

This photo gallery was inspired by some very ignorant and hurtful comments about the pit bull breed on my personal account. #PeopleAndPets is what my show's are all about, nothing but positivity! When we're kinder to animals we're kinder to people and that's a fact!

So what are pit bull's? They include the American Pit Bull Terrier, American Staffordshire Terrier, American Bully, and Staffordshire Bull Terrier. The American Bulldog is also sometimes included, but not as a general rule.

AND another thing - how do you spell it?? LOL - these are common and accepted:

Pitbull, Pit-bull Pit Bull, Pitties, Pibbles, The NANNY DOG, etc....

Famous Pitties!!

  • Pete the Pup from the movie Little Rascals
  • "Jack Brutus" who served for Company K, the First Connecticut Volunteer Infantry during the civil war
  • Billie Holiday's companion "Mister"
  • Helen Keller's dog "Sir Thomas"
  • President Theodore Roosevelt's Pit Bull terrier "Pete"
  • Sergeant Stubby who served for the 102nd Infantry 26th (Yankee) Division during World War I
  • MARK TWAIN!! Connecticut's own had a pit bull!!!

"We adopted our pit mix Boo Boo from COH Animal Shelter about 4 years ago. When we brought her home, it was apparent that she had been abused. She was terrified, she would cower if anybody picked up broom. When we would take her outside to play with the other dogs, a slight wagging of her tail let us know she wanted to play, but was too scared. --That was then. With lots of love & patience, she finally has learned to trust. It was so gratifying to watch her flourish into a confident, playful lovebug. She has become bonded to her sister Petunia (also a COH pup), and loves the kitten we adopted, last year, as her own. While the kitten sometimes gets out of control, Boo Boo plays with her gently and is tolerant. It's not the breed that is a problem, it is the environment and people that raise them determines ANY dog's temperament. "

"This is Ryker The Rescue. He is my foster fail through Kenway’s Cause after he was found dumped on the side of the road in Hartford starved and hanging on to life by barely a thread. He was brought into the vet hospital I work on my shift skin and bones, unable to stand or barely pick his head up. He was slow close to death his temperature wasn’t even reading and he weighed a mire 20 pounds. We battled a heart murmur and dilated cardiomyopathy from malnutrition and multiple stomach issues along the way. He is now 4 months into recovery weighing in at 50 pounds, heart strong and on a regular dog food diet. Oh and he’s got more energy than you can image. He enjoys running about the yard, playing with his house mates and other dog friends and he loves his cats too! He is the biggest cuddle bug.

You can see his whole story and more on Instagram @rykertherescue18" Natalie Johnson
