Kobe Bryant & Daughter Gianna’s Autopsy Reports Released

On Friday (May 15), The Los Angeles County Department of Medical Examiner-Coroner released autopsy reports for victims of the helicopter crash that killed Kobe Bryant, his 13-year-old daughter, Gianna, and seven others earlier this year.

According to officials, the cause of death for all nine victims was "blunt trauma," and the manner of deaths was an accident.

The autopsy reports come nearly four months after the devastating crash, which claimed the lives of Kobe, Gianna, Payton Chester, 13, Sarah Chester, 46, Alyssa Altobelli, 14, Keri Altobelli, 46, John Altobelli, 56, Christina Mauser, 38, and the helicopter's pilot Ara Zobayan, 50.

The group was on their way to a girls basketball game at Kobe's Mamba Sports Academy when the helicopter crashed into a hillside in Calabasas, California.

While the National Transportation Safety Board is still investigating the cause of the crash, the foggy weather that day is reportedly a key factor in the investigation.

Additionally, on Friday, TMZ released the results of the pilot's toxicology tests, which did not detect the presence of alcohol or drugs.

Back in February, Vanessa Bryant filed a wrongful death lawsuit against the company that owned the helicopter, Island Express, claiming the pilot was "negligent" and "the conditions the day of the crash were not conducive for such flying," TMZ reported of the lawsuit at the time.

Last week, however, a relative of the helicopter's pilot, answered Vanessa's lawsuit, saying, the fault of the crash lies on the eight passengers.

"Any injuries or damages to plaintiffs and/or their decedent were directly caused in full or in part by the negligence or fault of plaintiffs and/or their decedent, including their knowing and voluntary encounter with the risks involved, and that this negligence was a substantial factor in causing their purported damages, for which this answering defendant bears no responsibility," the rep said.
