Well-being for the mind, body and spirit will be the focus of the 11th annual Healthy Family FunFest set for Sunday, Feb. 23, from 10 am to 2 pm at the Aqua Turf Club, 556 Mulberry Street in the Plantsville section of Southington.

Healthy Family FunFest, Southington’s most popular health and wellness event, offers resources and interactive activities centered on living life to the fullest. This free festival, which each year attracts thousands of visitors of all ages, features dozens of Hartford HealthCare health professionals, including those representing specialties such as senior services, behavioral health, GoodLife Fitness, sleep disorders, rehabilitation, cardiovascular, men’s and women’s health and more.

Other exhibitors include Lewis Educational Agricultural Farm, Southington Community Cultural Arts, Early Childhood Collaborative of Southington, Prudence Crandall Center, Southington Commission on DisAbilities, Wheeler Clinic foster care program, Overeaters Anonymous and many others. Free screenings such as blood pressure, glucose, cholesterol, balance, sleep disorders and genetic testing will be available.

As in the past, the Southington Community YMCA is guiding the healthy fun for children. The children’s area with a “superheroes” theme is in the Wagon Room. Other kid-centered activities include the Family Fitness Challenge sponsored by Hartford HealthCare’s GoodLife Fitness, free book giveaways by Southington Library, Valentine the Clown and much more.

Onsite will be iHeartMedia's Cory Myers of Country 92.5, David Fisch, of The River 105.9, and Rob Dibble, Southington native, a sports analyst on 97.9 ESPN and former Major League Baseball pitcher.

Healthy Family Funfest fills the Aqua Turf Club and expands to the outdoors. The Hartford HealthCare Mobile Mammography Unit will be on-site to provide information on the importance of breast health and to book appointments. Children will be able to sit in fire trucks, police cars and an ambulance. The police department will also offer free child safety seats inspections.

Healthy Family FunFest’s premiere sponsor is the Bradley H. Barnes & Leila U. Barnes Memorial Trust at Main Street Community Foundation. The event is presented by Hartford HealthCare and the Southington Community YMCA whose focus is on youth development, healthy living and social responsibility.
