Texas Mom Charged With Helping Her Alleged Cop Killer Son Hide From Police

A Houston mother and her boyfriend are accused of helping to hide 21-year-old Tavores Dewayne Henderson after he allegedly ran over and killed a police officer during a traffic stop.

Henderson was pulled over earlier in the week, and the officers discovered he had a warrant out for his arrest stemming from a February incident in which he allegedly assaulted a family member. As they tried to arrest him, Henderson broke free from the officers and got back into his car. He ran over one of the officers, identified as Kalia Sullivan, as he fled. She was rushed to a local hospital where she died from her injuries.

Henderson managed to escape the area and contacted his mother, Tiffany Henderson, for help. She met her son along with her boyfriend, Geoffrey Wheeler, and they drove him to an inn about 30 miles away.

When police questioned Henderson the next day, she denied having any knowledge of her son's whereabouts. Officers discovered she was lying after reviewing surveillance footage from the inn, which showed Henderson and Wheeler leaving the hotel.

Investigators received a tip about Henderson's location and planned to conduct a raid to take him into custody. Authorities allowed Henderson to speak with her son first, and she managed to convince him to surrender peacefully.

Tiffany Henderson and Geoffrey Wheeler were both charged with hindering the apprehension of a felon. Tavores was charged with capital murder and could face the death penalty if convicted.
