Aspen Kelly has a special wish for her upcoming birthday. The Oklahoma girl officially becomes a teenager on September 1st and because she has leukemia, she can’t celebrate the way she’d like to, so she asked for postcards instead. Her mom, Vanessa, shared the request on Facebook back in July to hopefully get some postcards from every state and all over the world to cheer up her daughter on her 13th birthday.
The birthday postcard request worked and they’ve come in from each of the 50 states and 49 countries. Aspen has gotten more than 1,000 postcards so far and her mom’s keeping them to deliver on her birthday. But one card that really stood out came from Greece, and it wasn’t impressive because of that, but because of who sent it: Tom Hanks!
The Oscar-winning actor sent Aspen a sweet note reading: “I hope this arrives in time for your happy 13th birthday! Love you.” And it was signed by Tom Hanks. That’s bound to bring a smile to Aspen on her special day.
