Other red flags? Typos, grammar mistakes, or messages that sound copied and pasted. If you wouldn’t walk up to someone at a bar and say it, maybe don’t lead with it on an app either.
So what should you say? Experts suggest referencing something in the person’s profile, asking a fun question, or showing your personality with a light, flirty tone. Show you actually read what they wrote — and maybe even match their energy a bit.
