Sarah Asmar, Advancement Director of Hartford Performs, joins us live at the Travelers Championship. Hartford Performs is a unique initiative created in partnership with Hartford Public Schools that brings teaching artists into Pre-K through 8th-grade classrooms to teach academic subjects through the arts. From dancing like molecules to acting out vocabulary words, the goal is to engage students through creative learning. Each year, over 10,000 Hartford students benefit from these programs, which are carefully aligned with both national arts and state curriculum standards.
The impact has been extraordinary, giving students who learn differently a new way to connect with their education. Sarah shared powerful stories of transformation, including how students discovered the confidence to explore theater after seeing it firsthand. Hartford Performs relies on foundation and community support to operate, and Birdies for Charity is a vital part of that.
