Steve Morris, Executive Director of Literacy Volunteers of Greater Hartford, joins us live from the Travelers Championship in Cromwell. He shares how the Hartford-based nonprofit is changing lives by helping adults improve their literacy skills and build confidence through education, job training, and community support. Literacy Volunteers works with individuals 18 and older, whether they are learning English, strengthening reading and writing skills, preparing for the GED, or studying for citizenship.
Steve explained how important this work is, especially in a region where nearly 19 percent of adults read at or below a second grade level. With more than 600 students served each year, the impact is wide-reaching. Steve also thanked the Travelers Championship and Webster Bank for their continued support through Birdies for Charity, which helps raise essential funds and spread awareness for their mission.
