Anthony Byers, Executive Director of Hartford Youth Scholars, joins us live from the Travelers Championship in Cromwell. Hartford Youth Scholars is a college access and success program that has been serving Hartford students for 20 years. Their mission is to help students from Hartford not only get into college, but graduate and go on to thrive in their careers. The program begins as early as sixth grade, with students entering through a selective admissions process. From there, they receive support all the way through college graduation. Programming includes academic enrichment during the summer at Trinity College and Central Connecticut State University, high school and college admissions guidance, test prep, and personal development to help students succeed socially and emotionally in new academic environments.
Hartford Youth Scholars meet students where they are and help them overcome barriers to higher education. As the organization celebrates its 20th anniversary, Anthony invited the community to their Hartford Youth Scholars 20th anniversary event on September 18th at Hartford Golf Club. He also encouraged people to support their mission through Birdies for Charity.
