Let’s be honest, every parent has told a little white lie to avoid their child’s tantrum. Molly Brandt told TODAY she gets her daughter to eat meat by offering “points” toward Disney souvenirs.
In a viral TikTok, she asked other parents to share their best toddler white lies. Here are some of the best:
- “The ice cream truck music means they’re out of ice cream”
- “Spinach tortellini is green cheese”
- “Taylor Swift is your grandma”
- “Blippi and Bluey are sleeping. Only Curious George is awake.”
- “If we sleep in the same bed, we’ll shrink”
- “The park is napping”
Experts told TODAY white lies are usually harmless before age 3, but can affect trust later on. Save honesty for serous topics like death and safety and get creative for the rest.
