CT K9 OLYMPICS 2024

We spoke with Officer Kristen Brousseau, Captain Lid Rodrigues, Officer Jared Surprenant and K9 Grim of the Connecticut State Department of Corrections about the 32nd Annual K9 Olympics to take place September 21st at the Enfield Department of Corrections.

The event is an all-day competition involving K-9 units from local police departments, CT State Police, and Department of Corrections. Teams are evaluated during a competition in an arena style setting. Areas of competition include, but are not limited to a tactical drill, obedience, obstacles, and a K9 Apprehension Drill. Also available will be static displays of equipment used by law enforcement to include present day and historical Police vehicles and weapon systems. This will include specialty vehicles, the Department of Correction CERT team, narcotic and bomb detection dogs, and a variety of other police and animal related services.

Money raised through the sales of apparel and food, raffles and donations, is returned to local charities. This year money raised will go to the Hometown Foundation Special Olympics and Mark-9. In addition, donations will be made to the 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place finishers' charities of choice.

This event is free and open to the public. No personal pets allowed. VISIT HERE for more information.
