He chats about being named the Person of the Year by the The Central CT Celtic Cultural Committee for the 50th Greater Hartford St Patrick's Day Parade!

The Central Connecticut Celtic Cultural Committee has been formed for the purpose of fostering, promoting, and celebrating the cultural and historical contributions of Irish and Irish-American individuals and groups in Central Connecticut.

To achieve this purpose, activities include the sponsorship of the Greater Hartford St. Patrick’s Day Parade, including the selection of the Parade Person of Year and the Parade Grand Marshal.

Other activities include sponsorship of the Celtic Sons & Daughters Scholarship program and planning or promoting additional events and activities aimed at promoting Irish culture.

Parade Info:

The parade will step off at 11:00 a.m. at the state capitol and will end at the memorial arch. There will be several road closures in the Capital Avenue area on Saturday and streets will reopen at 3:00 p.m. The following street closures will take effect on the day of the parade:

  • At 9:30 a.m. road closures will be:
  • Capitol Avenue between Broad Street and Washington Street
  • Hungerford Street between Capitol Avenue and Russ Street
  • Oak Street between Capitol Avenue and Russ Street
  • Washington Street between Capitol Avenue and Buckingham Street
  • Trinity Street entire length Capitol Avenue exit ramp from I-84 East

At 10:40 a.m. road closures will be:

  • Capitol Avenue between Broad Street and Main Street
  • Main Street between Buckingham Street and Church Street
  • Asylum Street between Main Street and Spruce Street
  • Ford Street entire length Conlin Whitehead Highway @ Columbus Blvd. Exit (exit ramp will be open)
