While there were just over 17,000 people at each of the XFL’s opening games on Saturday in DC and Houston, the people sitting at home watching were slightly higher.
Like 200 times higher.
ABC announced yesterday that the XFL’s debut game between the DC Defenders and Seattle Dragons drew 3.3-million viewers and thatthe viewership peaked at the end of the broadcast.
And that is a good sign, as it makes one think the game kept fans interested.
But Vince McMahon shouldn’t get too excited just yet, as it was just one year ago that the Alliance of American Football drew 2.9-million viewers for its first game.
The AAF never reached anything remotely close to that again and shut down a little over a month later.
So, stay tuned… literally.
