Field of 450,000 Sunflowers on Display at Festival in Griswold
Buttonwood Farm to host annual Make-A-Wish Connecticut fundraiser July 20-28
Close your eyes and imagine a sea of more than 450,000 sunflowers in bloom on 15 acres of beautiful farmland, hayrides through the field of sunflowers, a special stop to feed handfuls of hay to the farm’s friendly cows and the chance to sample more than 50 flavors of the farm’s homemade ice cream - including a special sunflower flavor sold only during the ten-day Sunflowers for Wishes festival. Sounds like the perfect, idyllic summer day, right?
Buttonwood Farm is hosting its iconic annual event, Sunflowers for Wishes, for the 16th consecutive year July 20 through July 28. Bouquets of five sunflowers will be available in exchange for a $10 donation to Make-A-Wish® Connecticut. 100% of the proceeds of their sunflower sales, as well as their t-shirt, notecard and hayride sales are donated directly to Make-A-Wish Connecticut. Sunflowers are available while supplies last.
Over the years, the Button family has helped raise more than $1 million to create life-changing wishes for local children with critical illnesses. Many of those children will be stopping by the farm on Tuesday evening, July 30 during Wish Family Day, when the Buttons open the field exclusively for wish kids and families.
Sunflowers for Wishes is located at Buttonwood Farm, 473 Shetucket Turnpike in Griswold, CT. The event is open to the public from 10AM until dusk, July 20th through July 28th.

Media are encouraged to join us for the festival on July 20 to July 24, or on Wish Family Day July 30 to meet wish kids and capture the moment when the Buttons reveal their fundraising total for the year.
ABOUT MAKE-A-WISH CONNECTICUT
Make-A-Wish® Connecticut creates life-changing wishes for children with critical illnesses. The nonprofit seeks to bring every eligible child's wish to life because a wish is an integral part of a child's treatment journey. Research shows that wishes have proven physical and emotional benefits that can give children with critical illnesses a higher chance of survival. Together, generous donors, supporters, staff and volunteers across the state currently grant nearly 250 wishes a year. Since 1986, Make-A-Wish Connecticut has granted more than 3,000 wishes to local children. For more information about Make-A-Wish Connecticut, visit ct.wish.org.
