Animals May Get Attorneys In New Jersey Court Rooms - A New Jersey bill is giving animals representation in court.
The measure was introduced earlier this month by assemblywoman Annette Quijano and would allow attorneys and law students to voluntarily fight legal battles for animals. Quijano says the goal is to get justice for animals who have been abused as many cases end without a conviction.
Attorneys would go to hearings, have access to any medical records of the animals and be able to speak for the animal. It only covers cats and dogs, not exotic pets.
