It is official.
Tim Boyle got the call.
On Saturday night, Boyle, a class of 2013 graduate of Xavier High School in Middletown, CT, signed a three-year deal with the Green Bay Packers to play professional football. After waiting for his name to be called at the NFL Draft, Boyle eventually got his chance when the Packers picked him up as a free agent quarterback.
A few minutes after Boyle received word from one of the sport’s legendary franchises, he shared the news with family and friends, including his mother Nancy and father Kevin at his family’s home.
For the Boyle family, it was a moment they’ve been dreaming about for a long time.
“The NFL has been a dream of mine since I was five or six and to get to this point has been a blessing, but I don’t want to stop playing this amazing sport,” Boyle said. “I would say this is for my family, they have been so supportive over the years and I would love to do this for them.”
Boyle was one of 15 players the Packers signed after the 2018 draft concluded Saturday evening.
A University of Connecticut transfer who was the first true freshman to start at quarterback for the Huskies, Boyle wound up playing for three different head coaches. In 27 games, he threw for just one touchdown with 13 interceptions.
After transferring and sitting out a redshirt year at Eastern Kentucky, the 6-3 ½, 232-pound Boyle completed 61.5 percent of his passes for 2,134 yards and 11 touchdowns with 13 interceptions in 2017.
