Graduating from law school is an impressive achievement for anyone, but it’s a little more for Ieshia Champs. The 33-year-old single mother of five has overcome quite a few challenges, like losing her partner to cancer and losing her worldly possessions to a fire, to become part of class of 2018 at Texas Southern University’s Thurgood Marshall School of Law.
Champs recently posted a graduation photo of her with her five kids, she’s wearing her cap and gown and holds a sign which reads: “I did it.” And all of her children are holding signs too, with messages like: “I helped!” and “We did it!”
The photo has gone viral because it’s a reminder that anything is possible. Champs says her oldest son, who is 14, has been the biggest help by taking care of his younger siblings. Thanks to their support, mom is on her way to being a lawyer.
