Thanks to Vinnie Penn for covering this story this am on WELI our sister station. Vinnie you rock.
Directly from Vinnie's Page as written by Vinnie Penn:
If you caught The Project this morning you already know that I relayed the story of the dog that got between the Oxford man and his estranged wife and was the first on the receiving end of a bullet. Nika, a German Shepherd mix, is now being treated and the vet bill is typically exorbitant - $10,000! I personally think the vet and/or vets should go the pro bono route on this one, especially as Nika not only leaped in front of her former owner, but also is due to return to the children who lost their mother once the dog recuperates. This one should be a freebie, if a shred of human decency is left on this planet. That said, if cobble together the 10 grand we must, put me down for my fair share. You the listeners make the call.
Here is the segment I did on the Nika Fund this morning to catch you up to speed (if need be):
If you'd like to read about the Nika Fund, and the Oxford First Selectman who is leading the charge, go here (courtesy of CBS News): http://cbsloc.al/SXgjP7 For the record, the First Slectman, one George Temple, will be on The Project live tomorrow morning.
