Meet Power Puff Girl - she's only 10 weeks old!!!!
Here is some history of who he named "Dobby." He has only been in the pound for one week. He is young, at most 2 years old. When he was picked up, he had been kept in a very small confined area OUTDOORS at all times!! He was emaciated due to lack of food and water. (He loves to chow down now, and has already put on some needed weight in only a week! ) His collar was wound very tightly around his neck and he had an infection due to that, as well as having urine scalded paws. The dog warden says Barney/Dobby was petrified when he was first picked up, but has come leaps and bounds in only a week! He is still very skiddish, and shows signs of submissive behavior due to his being abused. He is very loving and low-key and shows great signs of affection. However, right now, any quick movements, and Barney/Dobby lays down on the ground showing his submissiveness. He is NOT aggressive at all. He was taken to Dr. Pennington, and he did great in the office with the cats walking around and other dogs in the waiting room. He even had a bath and did fine, probably the only bath he ever had... His infection from his imbedded collar is clear now. He has been examined and de-wormed just in case. The dog warden believes Barney/Dobby has never seen the inside of a house before. I cannot imagine that!!! He does not like wearing collars and crates terrify him (can you blame him!!) so a shoulder harness would be what he'd wear in the future. He is not neutered, but that cost would be paid for in the $50 adoption fee. Dave, the dog warden speculates that someone bought him to use for a hunting dog, and just lost interest in him. He thinks Barney/Dobby would do wonderful in a loving home, even with cat(s) or an accepting/friendly dog(s). He is looking for love, understanding of what he's been through, and more love!! If you or someone you know is interested in adopting Barney/Dobby, please call Dave at the Windsor Animal Control (860) 688-3378. Thank you for taking the time to read this!!
