Artist Spotlight for Friday 2/7/14: ON THIS DAY in 1965: George Harrison is admitted to London's University College Hospital with an infected back molar which has also infected his tonsils, necessitating their removal. The tonsils are destroyed so that they can't be sold to fans.

FYI: A section of stage backdrop autographed by the Beatles during the group’s first appearance on The Ed Sullivan Show on February 9, 1964 is headed to auction this April in New York City and is expected to fetch as much as $1 million. The four-foot-by-two-foot piece of plastic wall is autographed, from top to bottom, by Ringo Starr, George Harrison, Paul McCartney and John Lennon, each signature accompanied by an off-the-cuff doodle. The Fab Four reportedly signed the slab in between songs on the show seen by around 74 million viewers.
