Regal Cinemas Could Close All Locations

The second-largest theater chain in the U.S. could close all of its locations in the country due to the fallout from the coronavirus pandemic. The Wall Street Journal reports Regal Entertainment Group's more than 500 locations in the U.S. could shut their doors indefinitely this week.

The movie industry has been hit hard by the pandemic, which has delayed openings of what were expected to be blockbuster hits for the industry. While theaters have opened in many states, turnout remains low.

A final decision on the future of Regal's cinemas was expected to come next few days, but overnight, Regal’s parent company, Cineworld,announced plans to suspend operations of its US and UK theaters as of Thursday. Word is the pushing back of the 25th James Bond film, “No Time to Die,” was a clincher.
