Trump Cut From Home Alone 2...In Canada!

When the Canadian Broadcast Company aired Home Alone 2: Lost in New York earlier this week, viewers who know the 1992 film noticed something missing --Donald Trump's cameo.

A scene in which Kevin McCallister (Macaulay Culkin) encounters Trump for a few seconds inside the Plaza Hotel was mysteriously edited out. Social media immediately jumped on the CBC. One Twitter user wrote, "Don't love Trump, but come on folks - your hysteria over this man has risen to evangelical fervor. Guessing he'll be scrubbed from history books, too?" Another tweeted, "Welcome to the liberal government-controlled media."

TV networks edit movies all the time to fit into their schedule. That's all this was. The CBC could have cut other scenes. This particular scene was deliberately chosen. The network should have known viewers would notice the scene missing. It brought this criticism on itself. It's unclear if any other scenes were cut to fit the format.

Coincidentally, during his Christmas Eve video conference with servicemen, Trump was asked ifHome Alone 2was his favorite movie. He said "A lot of people mention it every year, especially around Christmas. They say ‘I just saw you.’...I was a little bit younger, to put it mildly. It’s a big Christmas hit, one of the biggest, so it’s an honor to be involved in something like that. You always like to see success.”

The CBC defended the omission explaining it was done "to allow for commercial time within the format." (FOX News)
